Tragic crash in 3rd stage of the Giro
I just learned the bad news. Wouter Weylandt died in a crash today.
The Giro d’Italia has been especially meaningful for me this year with stage two ending in Parma and stage three beginning in Reggio Emilia; I cycled in both cities less than two weeks ago!
But the joy has is gone for the moment and I think it will be muted for the remaining stages of this year’s Giro. To Wouter’s friends and family: Hang on to each other. It’s going to be a tough time.
